40th ANNUAL SPORTS MEET

Pushpalata Schools, Tirunelveli, observed the 40th Annual Sports Meet on 24 January 2026, highlighting the theme ‘Good Health and Well Being’.  Mr. V. Vinodh Santharam, the Deputy Commissioner, Tirunelveli City – East, presided over the event in the propitious presence of the Chairperson, Dr. Maragathavalli, the Correspondent, Mrs. Pushpalata Pooranan, the Senior Principal, Mrs. Pushpaveni Ayyappan, and the Principals of Pushpalata Schools.

The Chief Guest, Mr. V. Vinodh Santharam, hoisted the school flag, declared the Sports Meet ‘Open’, lit the Olympic torch and released the pigeons.  He felicitated the individual champions, outstanding performers and the proud winners of the overall championship trophies. In his address, he emphasised that true sportsmanship builds a positive environment and a resilient mindset to face challenges. He urged parents to nurture physical culture for children’s holistic physical and mental growth.

The majestic royal march, executed with precision, poise and discipline, embodied the spirit of unity as the 16 contingents of Pushpalata Schools held the audience spellbound. The meticulously performed drills showcased the Pushpalatans’ exceptional synergy and collective precision.  The Ribbon Drill by the tiny tots from classes I to III; the holistic Yoga by the kids of classes IV and V; the Oyil and Lazium Drill by the students of classes VI & VII; the Butterfly Drill by the girls of classes VIII & IX; the Staves Drill performed by the boys of classes VIII & IX and the elegant dance by the students of class XI, made the spectators enthralled.  The formidable display of Karate and Silambam demonstrated the excellence of martial arts, cultivating focus, discipline and inner strength of the performers.

The magnificent float entitled ‘Good Health and Well-being’ along with a parade of eminent sports personalities presented by the students of Class XI, effectively highlighted the importance of physical fitness, healthy living and social responsibility among the spectators.

The day resonated with enthusiasm and excellence in sports and the event concluded on a patriotic note with the National Anthem.
