ANNUAL SPORTS MEET

Pushpalata Schools observed the 39^th Annual Sports Meet on the 31 January 2025 on the theme ‘Sports For Peace’. Rev. Fr. Dr. Godwin Rufus, S.J., Principal, St. Xavier’s College, Tirunelveli, presided over the event, hoisted the school flag, declared the Sports Meet ‘open’, lit the Olympic torch and released the pigeons.   The charismatic royal march with poise and power, ethos of unity, added with a tone for discipline exuded by the 13 contingents of Pushpalata Schools captivated the spectators.  The individual champions, outstanding performers and the winners of the overall championship trophies were felicitated by the chief guest.

Rev. Fr. Dr. Godwin Rufus, in his address,appreciated the school for giving a global expression of sports calibre through their meticulous planning and designing of the day’s event.  He reminded the necessity to Appreciate oneself, Bare the challenges, Commit to Coordinate and Dare to be different.

The awe-inspiring drills performed by the Pushpalatans showcased their synergy.  The Ball drill by the tiny tots from classes I to III, the holistic Yoga by the kids of classes IV and V, the Cap drill by the students of classes VI and VII, the saree drill by the girls of classes VIII and IX, the flag drill performed by the boys of classes VIII and IX, the pyramid display by the students of class XI and the elegant dance promoting peace, made the spectators enthralled. The tremendous display of Karate and Silambam demonstrated the martial arts’ excellence, cultivating focus, discipline and inner strength of the performers.

The day was filled with excitement, energy and a display of exceptional athletic skills. The event came to an end with the national anthem.
