Pushpalata British International School – “Kinderlympics” – A Celebration of Early Childhood Sports

Pushpalata British International School organized the much-anticipated “Kinderlympics – Retro Bash” from
12 to 14 September, 2024. This three-day sporting event was a spectacular showcase of athletic talent and
team spirit among the school’s youngest learners.
Day 1: A Grand Opening The event was ceremoniously inaugurated by Dr. Anne Prewina, Pediatrician, who
hoisted the Olympic flag, symbolizing the spirit of unity and sportsmanship. Dr. Anne Prewina also released
pigeons to mark the beginning of the festivities and graciously accepted the students’ parade with honour.
In her keynote address, she emphasized the importance of encouraging children to lead active, healthy
lifestyles, urging parents to foster a love for sports and provide nutritious meals to support their growth.
The day’s highlights included a lively handball match for the toddlers, followed by a heart-warming music
and dance performance that filled the venue with joy and excitement.
Day 2: Competitive Spirit Shines On the second day, the school grounds buzzed with energy as students
participated in football, basketball, and swimming competitions. These events brought out the competitive
spirit between the school’s two teams, “Amethyst” and “Sunstone.” The swimming event was inaugurated
by the school’s correspondent, Mrs. Pushpalata Pooranan, whose presence inspired and motivated the
young athletes. She expressed her pride in the students’ efforts and encouraged them to continue
pursuing sports with passion.
Day 3: A Spectacular Finale The grand finale of the Kinder Olympics was graced by Dr. Ahmed Yoosuf,
Orthopedician, who attended as the guest of honour. He enthusiastically witnessed the students’
performances, including a vibrant dance routine, thrilling handball matches, and an exciting skating
competition. Dr. Yoosuf praised the students for their dedication and commended the school’s
commitment to promoting physical activity from a young age. He delivered an inspiring message to the
parents, urging them to support their children’s athletic endeavours and applauding their involvement
throughout the event.
The three-day event concluded with an awards ceremony, where winners from all competitions were
recognized and celebrated. The atmosphere was filled with pride and accomplishment as students received
their well-deserved prizes. The success of the Kinder Olympics was a result of the collective efforts of the
school’s dedicated team, led by the correspondent, Mrs. Pushpalata Pooranan, and Principal, Mr. Godwin
S. Lamuel, along with the physical education department and teachers. Their meticulous planning and
enthusiasm ensured a memorable experience for students, parents, and staff alike.
